Teak

Teak is the world's premier outdoor hardwood — its natural oil content makes it exceptionally resistant to moisture, rot, insects, and weathering without any finish at all. The golden-brown heartwood weathers to a distinguished silver-gray if left unfinished outdoors. Straight-grained with a coarse texture, it machines well but its silica content dulls tools faster than most species. Worth every penny for outdoor furniture, boat building, and anything exposed to the elements.
