Soft Maple looks nearly identical to Hard Maple but machines more easily, making it a go-to choice for painted or stained projects where the extra density of Hard Maple isn't needed. Heartwood is light reddish-brown; sapwood is off-white. Grain is generally straight and fine. An excellent and economical alternative for furniture, cabinetry, and millwork where cost matters.
