Mexican Ebony, also known as Katalox, is an extremely dense, dark purplish-black hardwood that polishes to a striking near-black luster. One of the hardest and heaviest woods commercially available, it takes an exceptional finish and is prized wherever a true ebony look is wanted at a more accessible price point. Grain is typically straight with a fine, even texture.
